Dr. David Ghodoussi founded Optimum Polymer Technologies in July of 2001.  He has a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Polymer and Organic Chemistry from Oregon State University and an MBA from the University of Memphis.  He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Dr. Ghodoussi has an extensive background and history manufacturing cutting edge car care chemicals, including a product most of us have used and love, Optimum No Rinse (aka ONR).

Besides being the chemist and manufacturer of his own professional-grade line of products, a lot of people don’t know that Dr. Ghodoussi has an extensive background as a chemist working for some of the largest automotive paint manufacturers in the world.  These companies include big names like PPG, DuPont/Axalta, Sherwin Williams, and BASF.  In fact, "Dr. G", as he is affectionately known, helped to develop modern basecoat/clearcoat paint technology.  So, not only does he make the products we can all use on paint, but he also helped to invent the actual paint we all work on!

Dr. Ghodoussi’s company was also the first in the U.S. and Canada to introduce ceramic coatings.  This is huge because the introduction of ceramic coatings helped to take the detailing industry to a higher level due to the longevity of the coating and also because it increased the profitability of our work to a dramatically higher level.

Dr. Ghodoussi also has two patents to his name – one for creating a spray wax that offers better and longer durability than a traditional paste wax, and another for incorporating UV protection into a liquid spray wax.  The UV protection used in car paint has a half-life of five years.  With Dr. Ghodoussi’s breakthrough formula, the UV protection in his product, Optimum Car Wax, migrates into the paint, both restoring and maintaining the UV protection.

He also worked in product development for the BARR company and created many of the formulas we use under the brand name Kleen-Strip.

Everyone and anyone that has ever met Dr. Ghodoussi knows him to be a very quiet spoken and polite man.  He’s the furthest thing from a grandstander when it comes to sharing or promoting his products and instead prefers to let the performance of his products do all the talking.

Dr. Ghodoussi has made major contributions to the professional car detailing industry and has proven himself to be a positive force in this industry helping others to become successful.  He is truly the kind of person you would want for a neighbor and is always willing to help anyone that asks.  He has earned his credentials and our industry is better in every way from his involvement.
