WHAT TESTING IS AVAILABLE?

Phase I - Certified Detailer (CD) & Phase II - Skills Validated (CD-SV)
This program is a culmination of the cooperative efforts of industry leaders specializing in the detailing industry.  The multi-phased program evaluates and develops a detailer’s technical knowledge and proficiency.  Successful completion of the first phase (Phase I), consisting of ten written exams, will grant the detailer the title of IDA Certified Detailer (CD).  Successful completion of a higher-level second phase (Phase II), consisting of hands-on assessments, will award the detailer a title of IDA Certified Detailer, Skills Validated (CD-SV).

Specialty: Motorcycle Certification (MC) + Skills Validation (MC-SV) NEW!
The Motorcycle Certification is the second specialty certification offered by the IDA.  The Motorcycle Certification consists of 5 exams, 10 questions each, in these subject areas: 1) General Knowledge; 2) Detailing Process; 3) Surfaces; 4) Terminology; and 5) Safety.  Those who achieve the status of IDA Certified Detailer – Motorcycle Certified (CD, MC) have exhibited the specific knowledge needed to properly care for various types and styles of motorcycles, and they understand the intricacies that distinguish motorcycle detailing from other forms of detailing.  Successful completion of a higher-level second phase, consisting of hands-on assessments, will award the detailer the designation of IDA Certified Detailer – Motorcycle Certified, Skills Validated (CD, MC-SV).

Specialty: RV Certification (RVC) NEW!
The RV Certification is the latest specialty certification offered by the IDA.  The RV Certification consists of 5 exams, 10 questions each, in these subject areas: 1) General Knowledge; 2) Safety; 3) Terminology; 4) Surfaces; and 5) Detailing Process.  Those who achieve the status of IDA Certified Detailer – RV Certified (CD, RVC) have demonstrated expertise not only as an auto detailer, but also in the dedicated area of RV detailing.

Specialty: Watercraft Certification (WC)
The Watercraft Certification is the first specialty certification offered by the International Detailing Association (IDA).  The Watercraft Certification consists of 5 exams, 10 questions each, in these subject areas: 1) Interior & Vinyl Care; 2) Paint & Fiberglass; 3) Safety & Environmental; 4) Terminology; and 5) Wood Trim, Metal & Brightwork.  Those who achieve the status of IDA Certified Detailer – Watercraft Certified (CD, WC) have demonstrated expertise not only as an auto detailer, but also in the dedicated area of marine detailing.

Please Note: Before registering for any of the Specialty exams or Skills Validated events, the applicant must have already completed Phase I Certification (or plan on completing at the event), having passed the ten written exams, to fulfill the classification of Certified Detailer.  To register for the Motorcycle Certification Skills Validation (MC-SV) event, you must have already completed Motorcycle Certification (MC) or plan on completing at the event, having passed the five written exams, to fulfill the classification of CD, MC.

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM INCLUDE?

You may register for an individual certification event or a combination of multiple certification events.

Non-Members - $400 

NOTE: You MAY register for more than one specialty exam (they will be held concurrently).  If you want to register for both Phase II (SV) and Motorcycle Certification Skills Validation (MC-SV), you MUST select two different timeslots.
