As we head into the heat of the summer and the peak of a busy season in the detailing industry, it is important to keep your motivation high, your pride in work lofty, and happy customers as a result. We all know that summer can often lead to long days and a lot of hard work, so how do you keep your head high and continue operating with the standards that are going to keep your customers coming back? Take a look at the IDA certificate you have hanging on the wall in your shop, or recognize the IDA decal stuck in the window of your work vehicle. Take a look at how great you look in your uniform with those IDA certification patches representing all of the hard work you have put into the industry so far. At the end of a long, hectic, and exhausting day, IDA detailers with certification designations have something that nobody else does – recognition as being one of the best in the industry.

There is no doubt that getting into the detailing industry and being successful comes with a lot of hard work and tenacity; but, customers recognize the people that go above and beyond. That is what IDA certification means to a shop or individual. You have not only worked to make your own business a success, but you have joined the fight to help pave the way for this industry to be recognized as something greater than it ever has. Your certification through the IDA is the chance for you to tell your customers why you are better than the person down the road offering services with the same descriptions for half the price. Your certifications are a representation of the work that you have put into your business, and the fact that “good enough” can never actually be “good enough”. You are striving to be the best in the business; you want to give your customers perfection.

Wear your patches proudly, hang your certificate wherever you think the most people are going to see it, and do not be ashamed to tell your customers why you are the person they need to do business with. Every customer out there is looking for the right shop to go to, and the only shop they should be coming back to, is yours. At the end of the day when you close up the shop, finally get home, and take off your uniform to end an exhausting day, look at your sleeves, and remember all of the work you have done – all of the long days, all of the crabby customers that you were able to make smile after making their vehicle look brand new, all of those times that money was tight – Remember that you have taken the steps to go above and beyond all of those hard times. You rose above the hard times, you kept your standards high, and your certification through the IDA is an emblem and recognition that YOU are one of the best.
