By Jonathan Munsell, CD, 2019 IDA President
My monthly message to the best detailers, suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors in the world.
Wow, where does the time go…here we are, another full year almost gone.
This time of year excites me on many levels. It always seems like a flurry of activity is happening. It seems like everyone tries to take everything that they wanted to get done at the beginning of the year and pull it together right in the nick of time at the end of the year. It’s a mad dash for sure. I know, we all do it!
The IDA has a little bit of that going on, but one of the things I love about the IDA is that it is in no way, shape, or form a frantic organization. It is controlled and measured at every level. It has amazing stewardship and our Executive Director, Sheryle Hazard, CAE, has been with us since the beginning.
So, this time of year for us, like in years past, is about looking to the future. We have finalized the nominations for the Board of Directors and are positioning ourselves for another great year ahead. I think we all could take a lesson from this type of control and discipline. It doesn’t need to be a rat race. If you are organized and disciplined, you can have whatever type of business and life you desire.
As you round out the year, of course be thankful for what you have. Start looking to the future and start setting up next year to be the “Best Year Ever”. Also, take some time this holiday season to enjoy your loved ones, appreciate the reality of your life, but also take time to plan for the future. I mean real planning – the pen and paper type. Take time to write down your “Big Hairy Audacious Goals” and the steps to get you there. Set your sights on 2020 and lay it out on paper. I assure you actually writing it will make a huge difference. When you write this sort of stuff down, it changes. You become the author. Your mind tries to resolve to accomplish it, with or without you even realizing it.
As we begin to usher 2019 out and 2020 in, focus on what you can do to make the next year for you GREAT!
As always, reach out to me or the IDA if we can help in any way!
Respectfully yours,
