A task force has been created to generate support to members for mental, emotional, and physical wellness. Let’s face it, detailing is a labor-intensive business. It can be hard on the body sometimes. The rigors of owning/managing a detailing business can be mentally challenging and emotionally stressful at times. And we all have life events that hit us. Some of us have mental health or cognitive issues. Some have physical conditions or limitations. Additionally, external factors such as economic market swings, seasonal cycles, or a global pandemic can really impact anyone’s ability to cope — or better, thrive — in the situation. The human condition — how we think, feel, and use our bodies — is not a given. It’s a variable that we can influence positively. We can and should support each other positively for mental, emotional, and physical wellness. After all, your own health directly affects the health of your business. Our detailing community is healthy when individuals are healthy. Right?

The newly formed Health And Wellness Task Force is inviting you to join other caring, passionate, and like-minded individuals for a team effort to create new member benefits in the area of taking care of ourselves, and each other. Current ideas being considered are:

  • Health & Wellness Articles
  • Social Media positive messaging
  • Ongoing support group
  • Index of health & wellness external resources
  • Webinar topics offered
  • “You’ve got a friend” hotline
  • Website content
  • Global wellness campaigns with International Chapters
Join our monthly meetings and help us weave the wellness message into everything we do! Contact us one of the below three ways.

I would love to give insight on my experience of 27 years in an auto manufacturing facility and now almost five years post retirement being a CD-SV certified detailer with the IDA. With emphasis on what that means to me now ergonomically, mentally, physically, and how it has effected my life, health and well being. I think this member benefit is crucial for education for any detailer. Especially the ergonomic value of repetitive motion, using vibratory tools, using proper PPE, and eventually how your body responds to years of your craft.
