Training 1

Written By: Alex Rudie

From October 11-16, Bob Myers, CD-SV, MC, RT, held a week-long series of training at MS Distributors in Puerto Rico. The training all took place outside, under a large canopy with tables, chairs, and a screen for presentation. Even though the weather was dismal at times, with storms rolling in throughout the week, the spirits of those in attendance were high. Everyone was excited and thrilled to be attending.

This week was huge for IDA Certification. Over the course of two days, they handled 24 new CDs, 21 new SVs, and 14 new MCs. These efforts were largely made possible with the help of Jose Rodriguez standing by. While Bob was presenting, Jose was on a second mic, translating in real-time. There were also two other translators, Carlos Gonzalez, CD-SV, and Jorge Rosario, CD-SV, assisting at the back of the tent. A huge thank you from all of us at the IDA for your hard work!

Overall, around 40 people were in attendance at any given time. Although it was hot and humid, everyone was in high spirits. The detailers were passionate, eager to learn, and highly engaged. They are already eagerly awaiting the arrival of their certificates and patches to show them off. The detailers expressed immense pride in their accomplishments, and we would like to express our pride in them as well. Fostering community, growth, and education within the detailing industry is what the IDA is about.

Training 2

Monday through Wednesday, Bob held PRO Product training. This is specialty training that is separate from IDA Certification. On Monday, they held their extreme detailing class, which covers all types of interiors and featured the detailing of an on-site car. Tuesday, they went through safety and hazard compliance items. On Wednesday, they covered exterior items. With 200+ products available, the training also covered the different products that PRO Product offers and the benefits that come with each of them. Half of the people who attended the PRO Product training also showed up for the IDA Certification courses that weekend.

IDA Certification took place on Friday and Saturday. Friday featured CD, SV, and MC certification courses. They covered general information in the morning, and someone came in and barbecued for lunch. After lunch, they took the CD tests. Everyone had a strong CD test, and no one came close to failing. They then moved on to SV testing. Marine certification was held last. They finished SV testing on Saturday. Saturday saw just as large of a turnout as the rest of the week. People returned even though they had already finished their certification and didn’t need to be there. They went to support their friends as well as their competitors. This demonstrates the strong and supportive community that exists in the Puerto Rico detailing industry.

Several dealerships were in attendance and, after observing the testing, expressed interest in having training and certification at their dealerships. Bob is booked to return in February to provide certification to multiple dealerships and their employees. Everyone at the IDA would like to express our pride and joy in both the supportive community that is the Puerto Rico detailing industry and all their accomplishments. We are excited for the next certification event.
