Jason Rose, CD-SV, RIT, has pioneered innovation, demonstrated groundbreaking work, and contributed wisdom and leadership throughout his career. He has made significant and lasting contributions to the professional detailing industry in the areas of Innovation, Advancement, Education, and Leadership. For these reasons and many more, Jason was inducted into the IDA Hall of Fame Class of 2022. What does this accomplishment mean to Jason? What changes has he seen and experienced throughout his career? We spoke with Jason to find out and learn more about his detailing career.
Jason Rose (JR): Honestly, I resisted the nomination and the award. I don’t do what I do for any awards. I am happy to serve detailers and help them to be more successful in reaching their goals. I also believe I am too integrated
and involved in the IDA. So, I was sensitive to the appearance that it is IDA people giving awards to IDA people. But the Founder's Club assured me that multiple nominations came from outside the IDA. I was coached into acceptance because many
of my accomplishments in this great industry occurred prior to my involvement in the IDA. I am proud. The recognition feels wonderful. And I have a heart full of respect and admiration for the others in the IDA Hall of Fame, past and present.
The International Detailing Association (IDA): How long were you in the industry? How did you get involved? JR: I started detailing when I was 16 years old. I had a mobile detailing business
in Southern California for the 12 years I was in high school and college. I then had a couple jobs working in distribution of detailing products in Los Angeles, California and Dallas, Texas. I joined the Meguiar’s team in 1996 and held various positions
in sales, marketing, training, and product development for 20 years. I have been training and product developing with RUPES for about 6 years. Doing the math, I've been in the industry a long time. I love what I do. I have less than zero interest
in doing anything else.
IDA: Who inspires you most in this industry? JR: I guess I have a heart for the underdog. I am full of love and support for those making a success in detailing. I am inspired by those who
put some muscle in their hustle and are get the job done in the face of adversity, physical, mental, emotional, or economic challenges. I support the brave and courageous women carving their path in a male-predominant industry. They are the new segment
of movers and shakers in our business. They are inserting perspective, energy, and enthusiasm into our community. The industry is better off with the diversity and unique contributions of women, varied ethnicities, and dissimilar orientations. If
detailing success is not easy for you and you are working hard everyday, I am your cheer leader. And I am inspired by you.
IDA: What would you say was the key to your success in this industry? JR: Wow, that's difficult to answer. So, I will say the first thing that popped into my head, P.A.C.E. When I started detailing, I had
a business partner. We wanted the name of our business to describe who we were and “how we roll”. We named our business P.A.C.E. Enterprises. An acronym meaning Persistence And Contagious Excitement! I believe that this set the tone for my career.
IDA: What words of wisdom would you like to impart? JR: Set your P.A.C.E.! Haha. I couldn’t resist. OK, how about this, invest in yourself more than equipment, buildings, or things. Feed your brain with
smart business ideas. Continue to nurture your business and detailing skills.
IDA: What would you say is your greatest accomplishment, or which one are you most proud of? JR: Some would say I have accomplished many significant things in my career thus far, and I agree. I know the
work I have put in, and continue to do. However, my greatest accomplishments, my proudest moments, are very private and hardly known. It is the one-on-one support I have given to detailers over the years in the form of sharing experiences, mentoring,
and even financial support. It is the phone calls with detailers I don’t even know, some in other countries, helping them through business or paint polishing challenges, and sometimes personal issues. I have God-given skills and talent. My greatest
gift to myself is helping other detailers, one at a time. There is nothing more satisfying than witnessing a detailer’s growth and success, overcoming a hurdle, and knowing that I had some contribution. I am most proud of those moments…overcoming
a hurdle…knowing that I had some contribution. I am most proud of those moments.
IDA: What is one major change you have seen in this industry? What is another change you would like to see made in the coming years? JR: I would like to see more respect and politeness in social media groups.
Yeah, I would like to see that in my lifetime. Maybe I would engage in more of them? It is sad to say, but just being nice to others would be the most amazing and impactful change I can think of. The thought makes me smile.
