Have the last 18 months rocked your world? Has COVID-19 impacted your life? Have you lost a loved one during this time? Has business slowed or picked up for you tremendously? No matter what has happened, you had to transition, i.e., make a change.

Personally, a lot has happened to me over the past 18 months. I lost my mom to COVID-19. She spent three months straight in the hospital and never made it back to her home. My wife spent late nights studying for the CPA exam, while I was entertaining our kids. My detailing business skyrocketed, but I had to fire an employee for damaging a vehicle. With so many moving pieces during this time and many things happening at once, I had to transition.

The last 18 months haven’t been easy, to say the least. I had to adapt to a new way of life, learn a new skill, and keep my mind and body in good shape. Below are some of the strategies I used to adapt.

  1. Stayed positive throughout each situation
  2. Called friends who would give me good advice
  3. Asked for help where I need it most
  4. Took mini-vacations
  5. Learned to face situations head-on instead of trying to bury them
  6. Discovered a new hobby, fishing
  7. Started exercising more
  8. Sought help from a mental health professional
  9. Read books
  10. Joined organizations in my local community

These are some of the ways I have managed to deal with transitions during the past 18 months. Change is temporary and you will need to adapt, regroup, and refocus to get through it. Just don’t give up or give in. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

How have you had to transition in the last two years? We would love to hear about it and how you adapted. Need help? Give us a call or email us.
