International Detailing Association (IDA): How long have you been with Stinger Chemical Company? Were you a detailer prior to becoming a supplier?
Tim Floyd (TF): I have been with this company for 15 years. I became an automotive chemical supplier in 1983. I had the business opportunity to buy an existing automotive chemical distributorship in Shreveport, LA.

IDA: What type of training does your business offer?
TF: Stinger Chemical Company offers new distributor training and product training. We also offer detail training for end users and auction process training.

IDA: What are some of your company’s attributes that make you stand out in the industry?
TF: Stinger Chemical Company's broad scope of products and services sets us apart from our competition. From quality manufacturing of car wash and detail supplies, equipment sales and services, training, and consulting, we are a leader in our industry.

IDA: Is there any advice you would give to detailers that may be looking into transitioning to product sales, distribution, or manufacturing?
TF: Know your product line and your customer's needs. Knowledge will win you customers every day.

IDA: What are some of the struggles your company has overcome to get to where it is today?
TF: Stinger Chemical is a very diverse company. Between product development, manufacturing, customer service, sales, and equipment installations, finding the right employees is the key to our continued growth.

IDA: Why does your company believe it is beneficial to support the IDA?
TF: Being a part of our industry's professional community is very important to our company. Participating in the knowledge and training that the IDA provides helps us to improve our company and to serve our customers better.

IDA: As a supplier, what changes would you like to see made in the detailing industry?
TF: Technology is the future for growth in our industry. New products, tools, and techniques will ensure success moving forward.
