Welcome to the Member Spotlight Meghan Poirier, IDA Board Member and Chief Operations Officer at Car Candy Detailing Products.

Meghan Poirier

International Detailing Association (IDA): How did you get into the detailing industry?
Meghan Poirier (MP): By accident, I was mainly hired for my photography skills, and the rest is history!

IDA: Please tell us your business’s story.
MP: I started at Autogeek when there were only three employees. The company was a mail-order business that started in the back of a retail store. While working alongside my partner at Autogeek, I learned how to build pages on the website, maintain a forum, process orders, and the technical side of products. We kind of just learned what we needed as we progressed with building the company. After 21 years at Autogeek, I found myself with a great opportunity to work with the amazing crew at Car Candy Detailing Products. I am excited to work on just one brand. I'm looking forward to the future and where we are going to take this brand.

IDA: In what products or services does your company specialize?
MPWe specialize in car care.

IDA: What do you think is the most important factor to being successful in the detailing industry?
MP: Being humble, honest, leading with integrity, and good old fashioned “working your butt off.”

IDA: Are there any awards/certifications/accomplishments that you or your business has earned and would like to share with us?
MP: I think I am prouder of the contributions made to the industry than any awards received. I love to give back to this industry and help those that might be new or struggling to get going. I am proud that I received the Hall of Fame Inductee award for Southern Detailers Conference in 2022. Daryl Lyons created an amazing show, and he will be missed.

IDA: What is the best advice you ever received?
MP: No matter how much you have or don’t have, you have enough to help someone else.

IDA: What tips do you have for the new detailer? For the experienced detailer?
MP: For the new detailer? Network with other detailers. They are not competition; they are friends of the industry. For the experienced detailer? Stay humble!

IDA: Funniest business moment?
MPThe business meeting with Jay Leno and him asking me to sit and have some cheese pizza with him. I am extremely lactose intolerant!

IDA: Why did you decide to get involved with the IDA?
MP: Rick Goldstein! He was a very dear friend of mine, a pillar in our industry. He asked me, and I could never say no to him! But now, many years later, I stay involved because the IDA helps shape the industry for the better. Because of the IDA, I can give back to the industry and help with its future, even if it's in a small way.

IDA: How has your involvement with the IDA affected your business and your career?
MP: I think anytime you can associate your business with an organization that is here to promote and grow the industry, it’s a good thing. My one love of the IDA is networking with like-minded individuals, working together to make this industry a better place for all.
