Jody Sedrick is a new 2024 IDA Board Member and the CEO of RoadFS/Zenware. How did he get started on his detailing journey? Why was RoadFS developed? We had a chance to speak to him and find out!

International Detailing Association (IDA): How did you get into the detailing industry? Jody Sedrick (JS): In 2005, I sold a custom mobile PDR app to Dent Wizard, which opened the door to automotive recon.
IDA: Please tell us your business’s story. JS: RoadFS was created in 2009, with the mission of providing a software solution that would have significant impact on the daily operations of detailing and auto recon business
owners. Over the years, we have created the most robust software solution providing online scheduling, customer management, email and text reminders, inventory management, and time tracking. We are driven by customer feedback and continue to evolve
based on the needs of our customers.
IDA: In what products or services does your company specialize? JS: We specialize in RoadFS Software.
IDA: What do you think is the most important factor to being successful in the detailing industry? JS: The most important factor to being successful is developing the skills as a business owner and entrepreneur,
not just a detailer. One must also develop resiliency and discipline to weather the challenging seasons of business.
IDA: Are there any awards/certifications/accomplishments that you or your business has earned and would like to share with us? JS: We were the Mobile Tech Expo Gold Mic Award winner in 2023. We were also voted the best place
to work in Idaho 5 years in a row, from 2012 - 2017.
IDA: What is the best advice you ever received? JS: Learn to dance with the currents of life and trust God has you and your family.
IDA: What tips do you have for the new detailer? For the experienced detailer? JS: Tip for new detailer: Invest in learning how to be a business owner and develop strong customer communication skills. Tip for experienced detailer: Same advice. You may be struggling because you are focused on detailing and not on building a business. Be willing to delegate what you are not good at.
Become a thought leader. If you want to be respected in the detailing industry, you need to be seen as a thought leader. Share your knowledge and expertise by writing blog posts, giving seminars, and participating in industry events.
IDA: Funniest business moment? JS: When we started our podcast, we only had an iPhone. We literally propped our iPhone on top of a table and taped it to some cardboard with boxing tape. In one episode, the cardboard
started to slowly slide down, and we had to lower our chairs in real time to stay in the camera's view.
IDA: Why did you decide to get involved with the IDA? JS: We got involved because we saw the IDA as the leading association in the detailing industry that was trying to create standards for detailing and was
actively working to elevate the industry.
IDA: How has your involvement with the IDA affected your business and your career? JS: Our involvement has created phenomenal
networking opportunities and opened the door some amazing relationships across the globe.
