Chris Robertson, CD-SV, MC, RVC, RIT, is a Territory Manager with DSI Automotive Products. He lives in Apple Valley, Minnesota, United States.

International Detailing Association (IDA): How did you get into the detailing industry?
Chris Robertson (CR): I started in the detailing industry in the early 2000s with Car Brite as a factory route driver in Indianapolis, IN. In 2008, I started with Impact Automotive Reconditioning in Indy eventually becoming the division manager overseeing operations in three states as a multi line distributor and Auto Magic’s top distributor. I became Central Zone Manager for Auto Magic and an RIT. I decided to return to my direct sales and training roots with DSI Automotive. I currently live in Apple Valley, MN with my wife Sarah.

IDA: Why did you decide to get involved with the IDA?
CR: I decided to get involved with the IDA while at Impact. I saw it as a way to get into quality continuing education and help our customers elevate their skills and set themselves apart from a car cleaner. I became an RIT as an Auto Magic Factory Representative to hold training sessions for the Distributors in my area.

IDA: What tips do you have for the new detailer?
CR: Stop watching YouTube and find a local distributor in your area who can give you real advice. I have seen many videos from seemingly knowledgeable people who are actually damaging because they don’t know what they are doing.
