Chad Emerson, CD-SV, is the Founder/Owner of CME Shine Auto Detailing in Springville, Iowa, United States. He recently became a member of the IDA Tradeshow & Education Committee.

International Detailing Association (IDA): How did you get into the detailing industry? Chad Emerson (CE): I've always had a passion for keeping my vehicles in great condition. We bought an acreage in 2021
and built a shop on the property for me to do my own service and detailing. After a few months of helping friends clean their cars, we decided why not do this on the side to make some extra money. After a year of training with various individuals
in the industry and being unhappy with my job of 22 years, we decided to go full time. Since going full time, I had the pleasure of getting to know Josh Pierce who has been an amazing asset to our growth and my knowledge. I hope to one day return
the honor to other detailers.
IDA: Please tell us your business’s story. CE: I am committed to return the highest quality work I can. I put my heart into every vehicle I touch; if it has MY name on it, anything else is unacceptable.
I am truly quality over quantity. I hope to one day be considered one of the best in my area.
IDA: In what products or services does your company specialize? CE: I love to do paint correction and coatings. Seeing customers smile when they see the end result is what fuels my passion!
IDA: What do you think is the most important factor to being successful in the detailing industry? CE: Being true to yourself, and earning the trust and respect of my customers, by being honest and upfront
with them.
IDA: Are there any awards/certifications/accomplishments that you or your business have earned and would like to share with us? CE: I am proud to be a CD and SV with the IDA. I have certification
with Adam's Polishes for paint correction and ceramic coatings, P&S Inspiration ceramic coatings, advanced paint correction with Detailing Pros, and a Revivify coating certification. Our business was awarded a Community Votes Gold Winner in auto
detailing for our area in 2025.

IDA: What is the best advice you ever received? CE: Be yourself.
IDA: What tips do you have for the new detailer? For the experienced detailer? CE: Invest in training, for your customers and yourself! Always be open to learning opportunities; mistakes will be made, but
look at them as a learning experience rather than a mistake.

IDA: Why did you decide to get involved with the IDA? CE: To have a place to continue to gain knowledge, meet new people, and help others.
IDA: How has your involvement with the IDA affected your business and your career? CE: I have gotten to meet some great people who are there when I need guidance. It has helped me structure my business and
has given me the opportunity to give back and help others.
