This month’s article goes out to all of the people taking the time to check out the IDA newsletter, that have not taken the time to pursue achieving an IDA certification. Why are you waiting?! There are so many benefits to be had in the IDA, and certification is arguably one of the biggest. Sure, you might be extremely busy. Maybe it seems like a lot of money at this point in time of your career. Always remember that you get out of something – what you put in. The IDA is the most beneficial to those that are most heavily involved and the benefits are only going to get better as the IDA continues to grow and develop. In the same way, the more that you invest into your business, the more benefit you are going to get out of that investment.
Pursuing an IDA certification for you, or maybe your staff, is an investment in both the IDA and your business. You are supporting the IDA by getting involved and raising the value of the CD and CD-SV designations, and you are wearing your detailing standards on your sleeve as a result. Please, do not think that we believe the IDA patches, certificate, or any logos are going to change your work ethic, standards, or quality customer service in your shop, because we know we have nothing to do with that. We understand that there is a lot of sweat and tears that go into the long days it requires to make a business in this industry work while staying competitive and being able to maintain high standards. As a result, we want you to be wearing the IDA logo. We believe that everyone in the detailing industry that truly believes in what they are doing, and stands behind their quality of work, should be representing the IDA proudly, and reaping the best benefits.
These certifications are not always easy. The CD (Certified Detailer) exams are a series of short tests that will put your detailing knowledge to the test. Some may be a little more difficult than others, and some you might fly through with no problem at all. By passing these exams you show that your knowledge of detailing is above that shop down the road that stays busy because of their extremely low prices. We all know the level of standards at that shop cannot compare to yours, so continue to take pride in what you are doing. Take the exams, pass them, and demonstrate to your clients and peers that you are a step above the rest as an IDA Certified Detailer!
The SV (Skills Validated) exams are a simple demonstration of your skills in a testing environment. You simply look on the IDA website at upcoming events, find and register for an SV event near you, and show up to demonstrate to the hosting IDA Recognized Trainer that you know how to detail a car with excellence. Please note that this step cannot be attempted until you have achieved your CD designation.
All of this to say – why wait? Take that next step in the IDA. Take that next step in your business! If time is money, you are losing money the longer you wait, so go onto the IDA website and look for your next CD or SV opportunity, and make that investment to show your clients how invested you are to excellent service and the detailing industry!
