Is Certification a Sure Thing?

This month we decided it would be beneficial to address one of the more frequently asked questions about IDA certification events – “If I go to this event, am I guaranteed to pass?”. As convenient as it would be to answer yes to this question, the answer is no. While the IDA has so much faith in the knowledge of all IDA Recognized Trainers (RTs), it is important to note that certification events are not training events. When you sign up for a certification event, it is important that you are prepared to take and pass the exam when you arrive. RTs are often willing to assist with questions and attempt to help you in the best way they can, but the main purpose is to test the knowledge and skills that you currently possess.

IDA certification is something that should demonstrate to your peers and customers that you have taken the time to go above and beyond the big shop down the road offering services at half the price of yours. The IDA does not want the credit for your continued growth, knowledge, and striving for perfection, but we do want to help bring a spotlight to you and your accomplishments. Certifications through the IDA are proof to everyone else that you have invested your time and energy to make sure that you are able to provide the best possible service to your clients, and that they can rely on you to continue to grow and better yourself and your company. Because of these things, we do not hold certification events to train people, we hold them to set a bar in the industry. If you are considering signing up for an upcoming IDA certification event, we are excited to have you as a part of the IDA. Show up to the event prepared to demonstrate your best knowledge of products, tools, vehicles, and most importantly of all – have a little fun!
