As a Recognized Independent Trainer, one of our responsibilities is to participate in IDA-recognized national or international certification events—and Mobile Tech Expo (MTE) 2026 was my opportunity to step up and contribute.

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, at MTE in Orlando, Florida, I proctored IDA Skills Validation (SV), working one-on-one with candidates in a fully hands-on, real-world testing environment.

This certification day had a strong international presence. The first candidate was Portuguese-speaking, followed by several Japanese-speaking candidates, each accompanied by a translator they brought with them. Translation was done live and step by step. While it naturally added time to the process, it also made the day more engaging. Clear demonstrations, patience, and the occasional round of hand-gesture “charades” helped bridge gaps when technical terminology didn’t translate cleanly.

Language differences aside, the level of skill and professionalism was impressive across the board. I felt confident in every candidate’s knowledge and hands-on ability, and all of the candidates successfully passed their Skills Validation. Their consistency, attention to detail, and respect for process made it clear that quality craftsmanship speaks a universal language.

The day was a great snapshot of the IDA’s expanding global reach and the value of hosting Skills Validation at major industry events like MTE. Offering hands-on certification at shows like this continues to attract professionals from around the world and reinforces the importance of standardized, skills-based evaluation.

Experiences like this highlight why getting involved with the IDA matters—whether that means becoming a member, pursuing certification (membership not required), or simply staying engaged. The IDA brings the industry together, raises the bar for professionalism, and proves that education and skills validation truly matter—no matter where you’re from or what language you speak.
