IDA Webinar - Why Your Business Value Matters

Date & Time: Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 12:00 pm CDT

Speakers:

David T. Howell, CFP®, AIF®, ChSNC™, Principal Financial Group®
David Howell has been in the financial services industry since 2002, and he joined the Principal Financial Group Central States Business Center in Brentwood, Tennessee in 2014.

His background and education are beneficial in assisting business owners in succession planning, retirement planning, and comprehensive financial planning.  One of his passions is working with the community with unique abilities.  He obtained the Chartered Special Needs Consultant designation in 2013 from the American College of Financial Services.  He has served on the outreach committee for the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, as a board member for the Autism Tennessee Society of Middle Tennessee, and on the board for the Brentwood YMCA.

Jessman Smith, JD, Principal Financial Group®

After graduating Drake Law School with honors, Jessman Smith spent several years as a private practice attorney, focusing on estate planning, probate, and particularly probate litigation.  All too often that involved splitting up family farms, family businesses, and ultimately families themselves.  When later presented with an opportunity to help preserve those family farms and businesses with proactive planning and financial solutions, it was too good to pass up.

Smith worked with Farm Bureau Financial Services before joining Principal Financial Group in 2015.  Working with family businesses and agribusinesses remains his passion as it allows him to share his experiences as well as his legal and tax knowledge.

Session Description:

This presentation will cover important business succession considerations for business owners such as:

  1. Strategies to solve key employee challenges
  2. Business Succession
  3. Retirement Benefit Design Strategies (Qualified and Non Qualified)
  4. Protection strategies for businesses owners and their business
