International Detailing Association (IDA): How long have you been with fieldd? Were you a detailer prior to becoming a supplier?
Harrison Lingard (HL): I have been with this company for three years now. Yes, I founded an Australian company called Refresh Valet in 2016 — aka "The Uber of car detailing".

IDA: What made you switch to becoming a supplier?
HL: With one manager, Refresh grew to 50 mobile detailers thanks to the software we built for it. I experienced how hard it was to detail cars, manage customers, and market the business without software. This inspired me to share our software solution and help other detailers around the world.

IDA: What type of training does your business offer?
HL: Fieldd is easy to use — no training is required. Our software can schedule, dispatch, and manage your customers, staff, and payments. If you have any questions along the way, we have a full team of support staff waiting to assist you.

IDA: What are some of your company’s attributes that make you stand out in the industry?
HL: Fieldd is the only software solution that empowers mobile detailers with an all-in-one Uber-style experience including branded mobile apps that takes their business to the next level.

IDA: Is there any advice you would give to detailers that may be looking into transitioning to product sales, distribution, or manufacturing?
HL: Nothing happens overnight. Outside of the craft of detailing is a whole new ball game. But if you have a unique, industry-leading product, it's easier to transition.

IDA: What are some of the struggles your company has overcome to get to where it is today?
HL: Entering the software space brings a unique set of challenges. I let the product speak for itself, then surrounded myself with highly talented individuals, and the rest was history.

IDA: Why does your company believe it is beneficial to support the IDA?
HL: The IDA has done an outstanding job positioning itself between detailers and suppliers. In this position, they have a uniquely broad insight into the market, allowing them to provide resources to help the industry pivot and grow. This leadership is critical to the success of the industry. There's nothing else globally like the IDA for detailers.

IDA: As a supplier, what changes would you like to see made in the detailing industry?
HL: Faster adoption of technology. Tech such as fieldd keeps detailers at the forefront of their industry instead of big corporations creating their own apps and taking business from the smaller companies.
